Remembering Duane Eddy

Rock ‘n roll fans are mourning the loss of a legend as Duane Eddy, a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, passed away at his home in Franklin, Tennessee at the age of 86. Eddy was known for his distinctive "twangy" sound, one of the most commercially successful instrumental artists of all time. His career took off in 1958 with the Top 10 hit "Rebel Rouser," and he continued a long run with 14 Top 40 hits from 1958 to 1963.

Eddy's musical journey saw a resurgence in 1986 when he collaborated with Art of Noise on a remake of "Peter Gunn," a song he first had a hit with in 1960. This collaboration not only marked a successful comeback but also earned Eddy the only Grammy of his career, winning Best Rock Instrumental in 1987. Eddy's influence on the music industry was so profound that he was one of the first musicians to have his own signature guitar.

In 1961, the Guild Guitar Company introduced the Duane Eddy signature models DE-400 and the deluxe DE-500, further cementing his legacy in the music world. Eddy's contributions to music were recognized when he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Musicians Hall of Fame in 2008.
